CULTIVATING KNOWLEDGE

Our world has gone so far in technology in a short time that our perception of reality is changed. And we are trying to keep it up with technology.

I recently tried a couple of AR applications, I want to share my experiences with you.

HP Reveal Aurasma is an application that I found a lot of obstacles to use. I tried to put an 3D monkey object on a monkey image, but the 3D object that application provide is quite inadequate and uploading an 3D object is so hard. You need to do everything on your phone. You can determine which floor your object is on. For example, you can use a wall or a book as a backdrop. And also, you are not able to see whats other people make unless you follow them.

To sum up, Hp Reveal needs to simplify its use to improve the application. When it’s compared to other one, Hp Reveal is not handy.

And UniteAR is very successful in adding objects or resources. The interface is good and the projects that created can be viewed by everyone. 

But this practice is also not perfect. Because there is a visual scanning limit, there are times when you cannot get enough efficiency. Moreover, when it’s compared to Aurasma, it is very restrictive not to choose the floor of the object. And unlike, you have to make all the adjustments through the site on the computer. You can use the application on the phone for only scannig.

I did not have a chance to try Blippar yet, but I scanned and experienced AR via the items that I purchased. Exactly Duracell’s collaboration with Blippar about Star Wars. I found very efficient it’s interface, It has a good quality and as far as I observed, it has no problem. The animations is realistic like seems to be.
That’s why Blippar looks pretty good to me.

If we sum up, we can see that AR is an area that needs to be improved. There are a lot of applications and sites about AR but everyone has a couple of problems to be fixed. It is a new area to explore and every day, it is getting better and better.

You can preview your household items and decide on the availability of your home. Thus, you can get rid of unwanted problems.

WWF FREE RIVERS

This free AR application, which WWF provides for children’s education, is quite interesting.

It is an application that aims to raise awareness of children about nature.

From mountains to grasslands, it shows a lot of habitat to observe. Here is a short video about that.
